Shane & Charla Franck family
Donation protected
On Sunday, September 27th, both Shane Franck & 17-year-old son, Dawson, suffered accidental gun shot wounds. They were cleaning a gun when it accidentally discharged a bullet that went through Shane’s forearm and into Dawson's abdomen. Shane went by ambulance to have his wound treated at St Luke's in Cedar Rapids & was released later that evening. Dawson was airlifted from their acreage to the University of Iowa Hospital where he received an emergent surgery to make many necessary repairs within his abdomen. After many hours in surgery, his medical team was very pleased with how things went. Dawson's prognosis is very promising and he is expected to make a full recovery, but it will be a long road. His release from the hospital is still TBD.
Shane and Charla are completely overwhelmed by the compassion and generosity from their family, friends and community. They are grateful and feel so lovingly held by the Lord and all of you that continue to ask how to help. They are about to bungee cord the freezer door so we convinced them to let us set up this fundraiser so the givers can continue to support this dear "frontline family". Shane can return to his essential duty of transporting goods across the USA & Charla will return to her position at the U of I Hospital as nurse instead of mom just as soon as their son is well enough to take home. Something nobody wants to happen more quickly than these two. In the meantime, any donations will provide some relief from worry brought on by Shane's loss of income. Any funds not used towards Dawson's medical bills will be donated to the crucial first responders in the community that came to their rescue and the U of I Stead Family Children's Hospital. They ask only for your continued prayers: of thanksgiving, for Dawson's strength, pain relief, complete healing and the well-being of their whole family until they can be back home together again.
