This gofundme page is to help Shameka Isme and her partner get through a situation that no mother and father expects or plans for after welcoming their baby girl into the world on November 25th. After leaving the hospital with their healthy baby, Shameka was experiencing a spinal headache at the time she was discharged from the hospital. This is a possible side effect caused by epidural anesthesia, which many mothers have before the delivery of her baby. Unfortunately, Shameka experienced a serious stroke from a blood clot located in her brain, which has caused paralysis on one side of her body and she is now in the intensive care unit waiting for treatment to remove the blood clot and get on the road to recovery.

To share some information about the type of person Shameka is, she and her partner and their first child have been living in a new house together since January of 2024, which is also when Shameka enrolled in the Practical Nursing program at Lorenzo Walker Technical College, so she could become an LPN. She was attending school M-F for the last 12 months and working at Moorings Park, a continuing care retirement community in Naples, with the intention to continue working there as a nurse once she graduated and earned her licensure in February 2025. After becoming a LPN, Shameka’s plans are to continue her education to become a Registered Nurse.

It is her ambition in life to take care of those who need help and to instill the same values in her children as she raises them, but she needs a village right now to get her back to her family and future patients. At only 22 years old, Shameka has built a life for herself and has made many plans for her future. Throughout her pregnancy, she has experienced many challenges as a mother, student, and employee without putting anything on the back burner. She is not awaiting for life lot happen to her because she is making life happen for herself. She is an amazing person and deserves all the help in world and I hope that setting up this page will allow her to focus on healing for her new baby, son, and partner. Her plans may be be postponed, but with the support of a village we can get Shameka back to her family and studies of becoming a Nurse so she can pay it forward to the village when she is able to.

Since “money makes the world go round,” the best way a community can help is with financial support, especially during the holiday season. Her family is helping with the care of her newborn and 3 year old son, but the bills will keep coming as she recovers from her stroke and begins to do therapy to start functioning again. Anything helps and hopefully, Shameka will be back on her feet sooner because of our help and her children and partner can get her back because they need her too.
