Hello, my name is Frida Bernal, and it is with heavy hearts that my family shares the sudden and tragic loss of my sister, 36-year-old Shalonda Young of Long Beach, who passed away early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2025, after being struck in a pedestrian crash.

Shalonda’s passing has left my family, her friends, and community in deep grief. She was a loving daughter of Ralph Young and Lorraine Bernal, a devoted sister, a mother of two beautiful children, and friend whose light and presence touched everyone who knew her. Shalonda will be remembered for her kind heart and her warm smile.

Our family is now faced with the unexpected burden of funeral and memorial expenses. During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for support from the community to help give my sister Shalonda the farewell she deserves.
