Shalom Quest
‘Shalom Quest’ will be a totally free, interactive course, designed to inspire and support people in their personal search for meaning and relationship in life. Our creative resources, based on 40 years of experience, will help people explore their own spiritual pathways. We are very open about our inspiration, which is a Jesus-centred spirituality, but we want to be absolutely clear we are not out to convert anyone! We’ve designed ‘Shalom Quest’ because our passion is to see everyone flourish spiritually – whatever pathway they choose. That is why our empowering, value-based, totally inclusive approach to spirituality is unique.
People tell us, ”Shalom Quest is just what is needed.” We would really value your support to help us raise £150,000 to enable us to create all the resources necessary to bring this Shalom Quest vision into reality.
Shalom is a Hebrew greeting translated as ‘peace’, an all-embracing expression of wholeness and harmony. Shalom is about relationship, which requires physical wellbeing, true justice for all, and the integration and integrity of absolutely everything
Quest is exploring the spiritual; that ‘flow of the experience of meaning and relationship’ at the heart of every person’s life journey
Shalom Quest will be a welcoming and safe space where those on different pathways of the spirit, or none, can be enriched by sharing and learning together in mutual respect as they reflect with each other around 14 core questions for today:
Shalom Quest will enable open groups – sensitively led or self-facilitated (in-person or online), to develop wherever there is interest. Safe places where conversation is nurtured, and conversion is actively rejected. Stimulated by today’s big questions in the light of shalom and spirituality.
Resources, designed by highly gifted and experienced creatives to inspire action-reflection, thought and emotion, will surround every theme with stories, exercises, sensory experiences, puzzles, film, and other ideas to kindle interest among people from the widest of backgrounds.
Questions that address big issues for many people will form the spinal structure of Shalom Quest; each one will be stimulated by two 15-minute high-quality films (making 8-hours of film in total to be produced). These ‘Question-films’ can be imagined as a carousel of titles that can be explored in any order according to interest, making them very flexible. They will also have a built-in multilingual facility so they can be adapted for different languages as the opportunity arises.
Opportunities will be available for those who have participated in Shalom Quest, yet want to remain involved, there will be three ‘continuing community’ options:
- Learning communities to continue exploring questions raised in greater detail
- Activist communities to support ‘engaged spirituality’ with a practical response to questions
- Relational communities of intentional groups supporting each other’s spiritual journeys
