Shakodi Sapp Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Shakodi Sapp battled sickle cell anemia her whole life, but you wouldn't have known it because she was such a fighter and the source of uplifting inspiration to those around her. Sadly, Shakodi passed away from the disease on April 22, 2020.
We're raising funds to support Shakodi's goal of helping her brother through law school, helping her mom pay off her medical bills, and funding research to help battle sickle cell anemia.
Because of the global pandemic, there likely won't be a public memorial service for Shakodi, so please use this space to share your stories of Shakodi. We'll make a memory book out of your comments and photos to give to her family.

In February 2019, after overcoming multiple organ failure, she wrote on Facebook "Life is short!!! Stop fighting with each other, love more, live life, and get your faith right with God. The last thing I really remember before I got sick was, being at Sara Cedeno wedding living life and catching her bouquet. I never understood my purpose in this world until now. If you understand or read ANYTHING medically, you know that I’m NOT suppose to be here breathing or on FB right now. People die from having just one cancer, and I survived Multiple Organ Failures with Sickle Cell and other little conditions. Someone asked me about what I saw on the other side, and honestly I don’t remember anything. But I don’t think God wanted me to see angels and heaven, so I could come back and say I saw that and the focus be on that. No, I think the point of all of this and my purpose was for you to see and understand the miracle and see what many called was impossible. God made it possible!! I love God and my family!"
