Shakir Akil is going to Hollywood

My name is Shakir Leatherbury, soon to be known in the entertainment world as Shakir Akil and I am an actor!  Since the age of ten, I have wanted to live in L.A.  My love for the city of L.A. came before I even knew I wanted to be an actor.  My first taste of acting was in a play May 2017, which I originally was just supposed to be my sisters ride there and ended up successfully auditioning.  After being on set for a commercial, shows and movies over the next few years, I realized this was my dream all along.  How did I come to this conclusion you may ask; I asked myself this question.  If I could do one thing daily, even if I did not get paid for it, what would that be? Acting, without thought, was my response.  Most recently in October 2020, I got a chance to work with my favorite actor and that was additional confirmation that acting is what I was born to do.  Last month I was accepted into a showcase program out of New York, called Tap NYC; A program used to help actors learn the intricacies of the business, while also perfecting the craft to have a chance to gain representation.  I am working daily odd jobs and hustling to save towards to my dream of moving to L.A.  Moving expenses as well as the entry fee for SAG(the actors union) are approximately $5000.00 However, it would be a humble blessing to receive assistance in making my dream come true.  ANY amount is appreciated.
