In Loving Memory of Shakema Edwards

Dear friends and family,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Daughter/Mother/Granddaughter/Spouse/Friend/Cousin/Niece Kema. She died after a procedure to end a pregnancy in the first trimester after no signs of life could be detected from the fetus. The procedure lead to abnormal bleeding requiring a blood transfusion to be conducted and a collapsing of her lungs. She was sent home less than 24hrs later to self care and died after that. She was 38 years old. We have asked why did this happen to her. We have asked why does this continue to happen so often and disportionately.

She touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.

As we navigate through this difficult time, we are confronted with the reality of unexpected expenses related to her final arrangements. In an effort to honor Shakema’s memory and provide the farewell she deserves, we are reaching out to our cherished community for support.
