Help This Family - Shahid Perwez Memorial Fund
For those who knew him, the death from Covid-19 of a remarkable scholar and human being Dr SHAHID PERWEZ, at the age of 44, has been a huge shock. Particularly hard hit are his young family - his wife Neha, Ashaaz (11), Hammad (9) and Inaaya (2). Also his colleagues at the Indian development consultancy M-CRIL, where Shahid has been working since 2016, and those who knew him on his unique journey from the town of Araria in Bihar, to a MA Sociology from Aligarh University, and a PhD in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh; and many others with whom he was associated on a range of research projects in Canada, UK, Sweden, and India. In response to this tragedy M-CRIL are helping to set up a Memorial Fund in his name. This will be based in India and will be managed by Directors from India and the UK. To help channel contributions to this memorial fund we have established this GO FUND ME account.
The primary purpose of the memorial fund will be to support the education of Shahid’s three children. Depending on the funds contributed, they may also be applied to support employment for Neha to help her rebuild her life with dignity.
In these harrowing times of Covid in India, there are of course so many in need of help, but if we can help just one family, that was dear to many of us, we can help build a better future. Any contribution, of any size, would therefore be greatly appreciated.
For those living in India who wish to contribute, we have established a Crowdera fund at https://gocrowdera.com/shahidperwez
Many thanks and warmest wishes
