I'd love to take a few minutes of your time to introduce to you the new Educational non profit By Shaheed and DJ Supreme. KRU (Knowledge, Rhythm and Understanding) was started to teach young kids to express themselves positively and constructively through the art of Hip Hop. K.R.U. also teaches Hip Hop as a form of therapy. This initiative will also teach the history and basics of Hip Hop culture. Shaheed and Supreme have gathered a host of help and have made great headway in a short amount of time to gather everything they need to get KRU moving forward.
Now, why are you here? As hard as they are working, it does take a village and KRU Could use your help! Please take inventory of the abundance you have and take what you may be able to spare and donate to this wonderful initiative. This program has the seal of approval of some of hip hops most respected groups.
Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding (KRU) is an educational initiative that empowers the youth by teaching them the 4 core elements of Hip Hop through peace, love, and having fun and to help them express themselves in a positive manner that will assist them in their life mentally, physically,emotionally and financially. .
Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding (KRU) is also an educational initiative created to bring awareness to the historical aspects of hip hop culture. The objective is to instill in today's youth an appreciation and understanding for the art and music for which they love (hip hop) through education, demonstration and application. The goal is to provide workshops for those that wish to pursue and preserve this artform in a professional capacity.
The curriculum/workshops include:
Hip Hop 101 (Hip Hop Appreciation)
Concentration on the Four Elements of Hip Hop (Deejaying, emceeing, breakdancing, and graffiti art)
History of the Deejay
History of Sampling
How to get on the Radio
Lyrical Skill Building
Basics of Song Structure
Fundamentals of Production/Beatmaking
Fundamentals of Stage Presence
