Hello, my name is Shaemeka, and I am raising funds for myself and my children as we work to rebuild our lives after Hurricane Helene and the struggles that followed. In September 2024, me and my kids were impacted by Hurricane Helene, which destroyed our home and everything we owned. We were displaced for six months, living in a hotel in Sarasota, before I was finally able to find a place to settle down. Since then, it has been a daily struggle to make ends meet while trying to rebuild our lives. Recently, life has thrown more challenges my way. I caught Covid three weeks ago, which kept me out of work with no pay, and my car broke down needing a new radiator that I couldn’t afford to fix. This has made it even harder to get to work and provide for my children. I am currently looking for a job closer to home, but in the meantime, I’m just trying to keep things together for me and my kids.
