Shady's life began with heartbreak. Taken from his mother at just 5 weeks old, he faced unimaginable hardships: neglect, abuse, and injuries that left him struggling to survive. At just 1.5 years old, Shady escaped his tethered life but was struck by a car, leaving him with three pelvic fractures, a bone fragment in his leg, lung contusions, and severe road rash.

Despite his painful past, Shady’s spirit never broke. Thanks to a kind-hearted rescuer in Alabama, Shady found a second chance. In January 2024, he was transported to Long Island, where Ivona welcomed him with open arms and unconditional love.

Today, Shady is facing another challenge. He needs a life-changing surgery called Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy to repair his leg and help him live without pain. The cost is $8,000, and your support could make all the difference. He is not able to walk on his hind leg, and has very limited movement. Shady has endured so much, but with your help, he can walk and run freely, leaving his painful past behind.

My mother, Ivona, is doing everything she can, but this is one of those situations where the numbers just don’t add up. We live in a place with a very high cost of living, where it’s already difficult to make ends meet working as a civil servant, let alone cover the cost of unexpected expenses as they arise. Nobody should be put in the situation of having to choose between helping their pet get the care they deserve and paying other bills.
