Shadow, the official mascot of Widnes Wild, is taking part in the Alder Hey Mascot Grand National on Friday 15th May 2026 to continue the club’s proud support of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

Widnes Wild have a strong history of supporting Alder Hey, particularly through their annual 'Air the Bear' game each December, where fans donate teddy bears for children in need at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Now, the club is going one step further, bringing that same community spirit to a brand-new and exciting event.

Held at the world-famous Aintree Racecourse in partnership with the Jockey Club, the Mascot Grand National is all about fun, fundraising and raising awareness. Shadow’s participation represents Widnes Wild’s commitment to supporting local families, while helping shine a spotlight on the incredible work Alder Hey does every day.
