Hi my name is Shadow I am roughly 7 months old. Apparently, I’m a what is called a “domestic” cat. My human mom rescued me in October 2025 when I was a kitten from a DIY store in our local village where I was dumped amongst a load of broken wood, luckily I got the humans attention by my little meows & I was taken back to my forever home. I settled in immediately meeting my older brother and sister Bruno & Bella, they’re dogs (Italian Greyhounds) but we made friends straight away & was made to feel right at home. I couldn’t stop meowing as soon as I got there, not because I was scared but I needed a wee wee so my mom went out to buy me a litter tray which I used as soon as she put down & have never had any accidents in house cause I’m such a good boy . A few days later mom surprised Ollie my human brother that I had come to live with them, he was so happy he cried. I’m so lucky to have found my forever family.
As time has progressed I started venturing out in the garden & the more confident I became I went further afield to explore. One night on Thursday 23 April 2026 I had an accident. I wish I was able to tell my mom exactly what happened. I managed to make it home & hobble into to bed. I have no idea how because I was in so much pain. In the morning when my mom woke up she immediately knew something had happened to me because I was growling and meowing every time I moved, so she made an appointment at our vets.
I've never seen my mom cry so much like she did that day. The vet said my hip had dislocated & it would cost £728 for an X-ray of my hip/pelvis, with sedation & that they hoped they would be able to pop my socket back in. If they couldn’t pop socket back in then I would need an operation to have one of my small little bones shaved down, so I would be more comfortable, estimated £3500 . I’m only 7 months old I want to live my best little life with my loving family, exploring and hunting.
We were given 3 options by vet:
1. phone charities to see if they will fund.
2. have a charity pay full vet fees, but I can’t live my happy life with my family.
3. Euthanasia.
2 & 3 definitely not options!
My mom tried everything that day phoning around charities and PDSA. We even drove to the PDSA to be turned away, saying they won’t take on any new registrations & that they are even turning away pets who are on cusp of death that aren't registered. I just wasn’t having any luck! We went home & have been looked after all weekend eating my fave Dreamies, having loads of love with kisses & cuddles.
My mom is really struggling with money & has built up a lot of debt since becoming a single mum to her son Ollie. She is using this Go Fund Me as a last option to ask for some help, if anyone would be kind enough to contribute to the cost of my X-ray please. I just hope they pop my socket back in & don’t need that horrid operation.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I wouldn’t ask if I wasn’t desperate. Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated. Sending purrs of love Shadow.
My family call me the Shadow of the night
