Our Kids Need Protection From the Sun

Here at Loving Savior School we enjoy sunshine most days out of the year, and while sunshine can be enjoyable, our sports courts are under direct sun which is hurting our kids. In addition to extreme heat, the constant exposure to UV rays is harmful and can lead to skin cancer.

As a skin cancer survivor, and a parent of two active kids attending Loving Savior School, I've made it my mission to raise the funds needed to cover at least one of our volleyball/basketball courts. This shade structure will provide shelter from the sun as the children play at recess as well as cover for our volleyball and basketball teams and spectators.

The project has been quoted at $92,390.00 for a structure that is 55'x86'x19' and then going up to 27' over the court. It would cover one full court plus the middle section between our two courts where spectators sit. The quote to cover the entire two courts was $159,735 - and is an option if enough funds are raised.

Our school is nonprofit and tuition based, which means that we receive zero outside funding and every penny goes back into the school. In order to keep our tuition rates very affordable, there are limited funds left over each year to use for renovations and improvements. The funds that are remaining must be prioritized with education and safety being most important.
