Shackelford Family Emergency Fund

Donation protected
We are setting up this account to help some close friends, that we have known for over 30 years,  who lost their home and much more on July 16, 2019 due to a fire that was started in vegetation behind their home .  The man that started this fire neglected to call 911 as it raced through their property destroying vehicles, out buildings and most importantly their home.  According to firefighters there was some additional delay in putting out the fire as there was a downed live power line.  Our friend had to quickly get her mother out of the house as the flames were coming toward them.  This was our friends childhood home that her mother had owned for more than 40 years .  While articles about the fire state that two people were displaced, there are actually 5, as other family lived with her in order to assist with her care.  This family was currently in the process of selling their beloved house  in order to be able to use the funds to provide 24 hour care for their mother and "Nana", who recently had broken her hip and is currently suffering from dementia.  The sell of the house was due  to close and fund on Friday July 19th.  Now these tragic circumstances have left them homeless and without any of their personal effects, other than the clothes they had on when they were evacuated.  They are also without the funds to provide the continued care.  While there is insurance, there is not the money available right now to replace items such as clothing, shoes and toiletries, in addition to providing the care that their mother and grandmother needs.  The sell of the house is halted, changing all of the plans and arrangements they have made for her.  We are not even sure how to begin to set a particular goal as any donation, no matter the size, would provide immediate assistance while they are waiting on insurance and determining what happens next.
