Hi, my name is Shaan Bains. I am a mechanical engineering freshman at the University of Kentucky and a brother of the Theta Chi Fraternity. This year, I am participating in Greek Sing, one of the University of Kentucky’s largest philanthropy events, which raises money for Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses.

To help contribute to this cause, I decided to take on a challenge that pushes me physically while raising awareness and support for Make-A-Wish.

Over the next two weeks, I will be posting daily updates as I prepare for a final endurance run. Every donation made will increase the distance I have to run at the end of the fundraiser. For every $25 donated, I will add a quarter mile to the total distance. Once we reach $1,500, every $50 donated will add another quarter mile. Once we hit $5,000, every $100 will be a quarter mile.

In between from when I start to when I finish, I will be doing smaller milestone challenges for every $500 we raise, such as a cold plunge, running in a suit, or doing a milk mile.

My goal is to raise $5,000 for Make-A-Wish through Greek Sing. If we reach that goal, I will be running over 30 miles to complete the challenge.

Make-A-Wish creates incredible moments for children and families who are going through some of the hardest times imaginable. Being able to contribute to that mission is incredibly meaningful to me.

Every donation, no matter the amount, helps bring us closer to granting life-changing wishes for children who truly deserve it.
