Joel Needs Our Help

Fundraiser by John Hichak & Joe Sheehan
As you may have heard or not, our fellow industry peer, and one of my best friends, Joel Nolasco, suffered a serious medical emergency. On November 22nd, while driving his truck in the Bronx, New York, Joel suffered from a double brain aneurism and was rushed to Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx where he went under emergency surgery to stop the aneurisms from progressing.
On January 2nd, Joel had a Craniotomy performed on him which was hopefully the last invasive procedure before he starts his long road to recovery in an aggressive rehabilitation facility to gain his strength back and rebuild his cognitive skills.
As you can imagine, Joel's medical bills are growing by the day, even with good health insurance his copays are going to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. We are asking for your help, every dollar helps, so please help our brother Joel out. I truly believe that our industry has some of the most heartfelt human beings, and we can all come together to help Joel just a little bit. The money that you contribute will go directly to Joel, so he has some help with his medical bills.
Besides from being the best dressed in the room and having the ability to light up the room no matter where he goes, Joel Nolasco is the co-owner of Nuborn Pest Control located in Mamaroneck, New York. Joel has held many positions over the years for the NYPMA, including President. Joel sits on numerous committees and boards for NPMA, including the NPMA diversity committee, which he is extremely proud to be a part of. Joel’s contributions to our industry on a local and national level are extraordinary, and his commitment to making our industry better is unparalleled.
John Hichak says:
I first met Joel 15 years ago, and from the minute I met him, I knew that our relationship would blossom into something greater. Over the years Joel has become a part of my family, and our friendship continues to strengthen by the day. My two sons, Christian and Michael proudly call Joel “Uncle Joel”, and they enjoy spending as much time as they can with him.
Joel's positive outlook and determination is what is going to get him back to what he loves doing best, and that is being a father to his two children, Juliet -11, and Joziah 12. He’s focused on getting back to work and contributing to our industry. As well as practicing MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and just being the best version of himself. Please take some time to pray for our brother, Joel during his recovery.
Joe Sheehan says:
I met Joel 11 years ago when the 5 Families of NY decided to become 1. For those that may have missed that it was when the 3 Pest Associations in NY decided to merge to create one. Joel wanted to be and was involved from the very beginning. Asking the tough questions and throwing himself out there to take on any and every task needed. Through this work and a variety of commonalities he and I became friends. I don’t use that word lightly. To reiterate some of what John said he is just that kind of person. Not to mention both of our shared love for being “fresh to death” i.e. meticulously dressed, groomed, and maintained. He and I would have friendly banter about who held the title of Best Dressed. Recently at Pest World it was time to put this to bed and I conceded to Joel the Best Dressed in Pest Control title. Like everything else is Joel’s personal and professional life he had earned it! I say all this in the hopes some of it resonates with you and you see him for what he is, a genuinely GREAT person. If you had the pleasure of meeting him then you already know.
So… I want you to think of his situation, how your life would be up ended, if heaven forbid something like this happened to you, and I want you to think of a dollar amount that would be helpful with all of the bills piling up and I want you to, at the bare minimum, double that dollar amount, and donate it to OUR BROTHER
