Hunter has been diagnosed with Streff Syndrome. Streff Syndrome is a stress induced vision problem, often seen in children or teenagers, that results in a major decrease in usable vision and visual abilities. During his original testing it was found that Hunter’s visual acuity was very low, making anything smaller than the very top line of your standard eye chart impossible to see. Unfortunately, because of the Streff Syndrome corrective glasses do not improve Hunter’s acuity. He must struggle to read anything smaller than a street sign. This struggle has made school increasingly more difficult for Hunter, though he is bravely hanging in there and doing his best. In addition to his low-vision it was found that Hunter’s ability to track objects was equal to that of a 7 year old. For the last 9 weeks Hunter has been undergoing Optometric Vision therapy to remedy his current vision problems. In this short time he has increased his tracking ability to that of an 11 year old, that’s 4 whole years!
However, Hunter still has a long way to go before he is able to view the world as he once could.
Please join us in making Hunter’s future one full of possibility by insuring that he is able to complete his course of Optometric Vision Therapy.
