HELP FIROZA GET INTO A FILM SCHOOL

Hi

My name is Firoza, 28 year-old from Madagascar. A country well known for its landscapes, but unfortunately not enough for its artists.

I developed a strong interest for cinema at a very young age. I have always wanted to be a screenwriter and a director, and with the available tools, I made a bunch of short films, self produced.

With those shortfilms I could travel a little bit, I did a few festivals like the Interfilm in Berlin, the Louxor film festival in Egypt, the Festival del film in Locarno. I also, with my script projects, have been selected to some screenwriting residencies like the Residence of FIFIB Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bordeaux, the Script pitch competition in Berlin and the Realness Screenwriters residency in South Africa.

I also got a scholarship to attend courses at the Art-on-the-run filmschool in Berlin twice, for 3 months each.

I have been working as a first assistant director for the film JOE a local production.

I have stories I can’t wait to tell the world but I must learn how to tell them and there are techniques both on screenwriting and filming that I don’t know yet. Good news is, I got the opportunity to do so.

After going through a competitive application process, I have been accepted to the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Visuels de Marrakech Morocco, where I am supposed to study two years for a master degree. Knowing my situation, they offered to cover 50% of the fees of the first year.

This is the best thing that could happen to me, unfortunately, I cannot afford to cover the rest of the 50% plus the fees of the second year.

That is why any contribution you could make toward this fundraising campaign would help me reach my goal.

I am excited to share this new adventure with you and I cannot wait to show you the result of your contribution on my Malagasy film maker’s career.

PS: The remaining 50% for the first year costs $2600, the second year costs $5000 and the remaining amount, $2400 covers

other fees (accommodation, tuition, insurance, living expenses, séjour,

school supplies).
