Emily’s Stroke Recovery Fund

Donation protected
A month ago my mother, Emily, suffered a stroke. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital trying to become stabilized enough to be transferred to an inpatient rehab facility. Her blood pressure stabilized and she is now at a rehab working on recovery.

The stroke happened on the left side of her brain, which made the right side of her body completely paralyzed. She is unable to speak, understand questions/commands, and unable to process language. It took her a few weeks but she is now able to swallow puréed foods.

Anyone who knows my mom, knows that she is an extremely prideful and independent person. She’s the type of person that would never ask for a dollar let alone thousands but we are in a situation where her recovery is our number one priority.

Medicare only covers day 1-20 of rehab, a copay of $170.50 a day for days 21-100, and after 100 days it is completely out of pocket. My mom is going to need therapy for the long haul. Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech therapy. These therapies are critical to continue her recovery.

My dad might have to be forced to retire in order to take care of her basic needs but she’ll still need to continue with intense therapy if she’ll ever have a chance for walking and talking again.

Thank you all for helping our mom. She is such a selfless person and I know she would be overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and family.
