Sgt. Steve Perez Fund From the SBA

Sgt. Steve Perez, a 34 year veteran of the Houston Police Department, died when he drove his vehicle into floodwater trying to get to work to help the people of Houston after tropical storm Harvey.  Despite pleas from his wife and father-in-law to stay home due to treacherous conditions, his response was “We’ve got work to do.”  He tried to find a way around flooded roads for two and a half hours before calling his supervisor and saying he would report to his secondary duty station.  Sgt. Perez died in a drowning type event while attempting to get to work.

Here at the Sergeants Benevolent Association (NYPD), our hearts are heavy at the loss of a brother in blue and fellow Sergeant. All monies raised will be sent by the SBA via our Vice President, Vincent Vallelong, to the family of Sgt. Perez.  Please continue to keep his family, and the entire Houston Police Department, in your prayers.  The SBA stands side-by-side with the Houston Police Department.
