Sgt. Kitchell was injured on December 16, 2017 while on duty. Sgt. Kitchell suffered severe injuries to his neck and will require Cervical Spine surgery. The invasive surgery will include removing a small piece of his pelvic bone to replace part of his spine. This surgery requires a minimum of six months to recover with extensive physical therapy. His doctor said this injury and surgery could possibly be career ending. He has been placed on sick/injured medical leave due to his injuries.
Sgt. Kitchell is a father of six children ranging from 5 years old to 26 years old, two of which are currently attending college. Sgt. Kitchell works extremely hard to provide for his family and pay for his children’s college tuition, sports and extra curricular activities.
Sgt. Kitchell has been a dedicated Police Officer for twenty three years, serving the police department in several capacities. He has been a leader and mentor to many Police Officers and other department personnel. He has been and is always willing to help anyone in need, whether it is a work related or a personal matter.
When I spoke with Sgt. Kitchell about starting a Go Fund Me page, he was extremely hesitant; however; he expressed that he would allow this page but upon his return to full duty will make a donation to Backstoppers in the full amount that is raised during his time of need. He will place everyone’s name on the donation to Backstoppers who contributed.
With your support we hope to ease his financial and emotional stress during this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, is humbly appreciated.
