Sgt. Daryl Clay Meadows, Jr., age 27, of Tower Drive died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at his residence. Clay was born August 7, 1993 in Cumberland County. Clay is survived by his wife, Bethany Kinlaw Meadows of Coats; children, Marilla Jan Meadows, Elisha Clay Meadows, and Baby Meadows due 2021; parents, Daryl Clay Sr. and Amy Beasley Meadows of Coats; brother, Marcus Daniel Meadows and wife, Katelynne of Coats; along with grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Clay served as a Police Officer with the Coats Police Department for 5 years. At the age of 17, Clay was called to preach and ministered for 10 years. Clay did a lot of outreach programs with his church to include a street service ministry in Fayetteville, NC. He had a servant's heart and truly loved protecting his community through his police work. During his time of service Clay served as Sergeant for 2 years. In 2018 Clay was awarded Police Officer of the Year. He worked closely with the youth in the community, he was the Governor Highway Safety Program coordinator for the town, and was lead on Narcotic and Gang Investigations. To his department Clay was not just a Sergeant, he was a friend, counselor, and brother in blue. Clay will always hold a very special place in the hearts of his Police Family.
Clay was loved by so many people and touched so many people's lives through his ministry and police work. He is gone too early from this world and will be missed by so many.
All expenses donated will be directly deposited to his wife, Bethany. The purpose of this memorial fund is to help with funeral expenses, Christmas for his children, and financial assistant for his wife and children during this time. Please continue to pray for his family and officers.
