Hi Friendly FundMes, my name is Cindy Blair Sampson. I'm a free-lance commercial artist going by the name SampsonNDelilah in Champaign IL. For the past 5 years to help ends meet (I'm an artist, it doesn't always pay the bills!) I've been the on-site manager at a local storage unit facility. It was understood that we (me, my husband and grandson who I have guardianship over) would have a rent-free apartment with studio space. But the company just sold and the new ownership is shaking things up and wants us out. Apparently (and according to the laywers) the new owners can kick me and my family out with just 24 hours notice because no lease was signed and I'm an "at-will" employee. The only thing slowing down the process is them trying to find my replacement.
But we're scrambling here. As soon as they can they will give us the boot leaving me jobless and my family homeless. We're asking for our friends to donate $2000, a guestimate that will cover a deposit for a rental home. We are looking for (ideally) a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with garage or finished basement for studio space that's available NOW in the c-u area. We're also updating our resumes and ready to get out there to keep meeting our ends!
