This fund is to support running the Student Game Developer Alliance in running the Summit, a free student focused GDC-like event between universities across California and industry professionals in the games industry.
If you feel like SGDA has helped you in some way, this is your chance to give back to the community.
Or if you want to support student game development, please consider donating to the event.
The Student Game Developer Alliance (SGDA) is an organization between student game development organizations across California with the mission of supporting and encouraging aspiring game developers. Help support our mission by donating to sustain the SGDA Summit, an annual games conference that connects student game developers across California and industry professionals.
----------What is the SGDA Summit?----------
A student focused conference hosted by SDGA that connects students and industry professionals in the games industry. Since its inception, it has been free and open to our community.
It hosts talks, panels, and workshops focused on various aspects of development from working developers and students alike. It is also home to the only in-person, cross state showcase of student made games where students can celebrate their work and share their passions.
----------What’s new for 2020: the Summit and IEEE----------
2020’s conference is planned to be part of a new, larger event called The Student Games Festival, a working collaboration with another large student games organization.
We will be releasing further details about our collaboration in the future.
----------Why we need your help----------
In previous years, the Summit’s venue costs, food, and promotional materials were entirely funded through large donations from a few generous members of the SGDA community. This has proved to work after the Summit was able to see 200 students being travel across California to Cal Poly Pomona for the 2019, but this model has grown to be neither sustainable nor possible for a volunteer run organization to handle.
Moving forward, we would like to offer the chance to people who are able to give back to their community or interested in supporting the next generation of game developers to help SGDA keep the Summit running.
Above all, our goal is to keep the conference free for students. We will be able to accomplish this by reaching several milestones for the venue and food costs.
---------- Our Goals ----------
$500 → The venue can be secured and attendees pay a ticket cost
$1000 → Entry is free to all attendees
$2000 → Free food can be provided to all attendees
Please consider helping us in our mission to give student game developers a community of education, peer support, and passion by donating to keep the 2020 conference afloat. Thank you!
