Hi friends and family, 2016 hasn't quite been my year and this GoFundMe is my last resort. I don't want anybody to feel any pressure to donate, but I am really in a tough situation and it's hard to ask for help. Here's the short story: I need $1,500 ASAP to get a 2000 Ford Taurus (that my boss' mechanic is currently holding for me) so I can get to/from work and if you donate to me I will give you art in return.
Here's the long story:
On Monday January 11th I was driving home from work, hit a patch of ice and spun out on the freeway. I hit a guardrail along the driver side of my car and was barely able to drive it off of the freeway. Luckily, I wasn't hurt and nobody else was involved in the accident. I had the car towed to a local auto shop where they inspected my car and gave me a quote for how much it would be for it to just be driveable again. The repairs were estimated at $2,500 minimum, with used parts (I've had a couple different people look at the list of repairs needed and confirmed that that's the correct price for that amount of damage). The Kelley Blue Book value of my car before the accident is only $2000. I could only afford liability insurance, so the accident isn't covered. I've called numerous auto shops/junkyards and was quoted $25-$100 for scrapping my car. However, my amazing boss at Trader Joe's talked to her long-time mechanic about any possible cars that people have traded-in and he has one! It's a 2000 Ford Taurus with 100k miles that the owners are selling for $1200 but requires $700-$800 worth of work. He's already held the car for me until this week, but can only hold it for a couple more days. I've tried applying for countless personal and auto loans but have been denied because one, my credit score is too low and two, my debt to income is too high due to student loan debt (thanks SallieMae). I don't know what else to do but ask for help. I love my job, I'm a sign artist at Trader Joe's in Woodbury and have been there since May of 2015. I work with the loveliest people and get to use my degree every day at work. The only downside is that it's a 25 minute commute to work one-way and the bus system from Minneapolis to Woodbury is pretty much non-existant. I am certain that this is the job for me right now and just last week had a really validating and encouraging official review from my boss. Given my current financial situation (again, thank you Sallie Mae), I am unable to invest $2000 in a new car and am feeling very overwhelmed by my lack of options. So here I am. Asking for help (which, if you know me, is VERY hard for me to do/admit). In return, not only will I be beyond grateful, but I will also give you art.

Thank you for reading the long story, and if you choose to donate please know that I am very humbled by your help and so thankful for your support.

There are different reward levels (and every donation gets a letter) but I am certainly open to other negotiations/art commissions. I have enough print and sketchbook inventory to mail them out this weekend so you will get all of your items in a timely fashion :) Here's a link to my instagram so you can see what I have available. Thank you again <3
