Let me tell you a story about Theresa. Theresa, our beautiful, fun-loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, niece, cousin and friend, has had to hear "that news." The news that she is terminally ill with limited time left with her loved ones. How devastating to hear you have end-stage lung disease-pulmonary fibrosis, and your only option is hospice care. In pain, struggling to breathe, tethered to oxygen, waiting, waiting for "that moment." What if "that moment" doesn't come and you are still here, in hospice, four years later? Seemingly impossible but true. Theresa has endured more in the past four years than most could possibly envision. She has lost everything we tend to take for granted, her independence, her mobility, her friends, even the ability to take a deep breath.
Her world has become a very small circle right now, expanding only in her spirituality and faith. She has very little semblance of a life filled with joy. There is, however, one beautiful part to the story of Theresa. The love of her life, Gene, and her daughter, Donna, have fervently cared for her throughout this painful tribulation. They are there 24/7 caring for Theresa despite the relentless stress and exhaustion. All the while continuing to maintain both of their households and keeping up with the demands of a full workweek. They have devoted themselves to love and care for her.
This Go Fund Me page is a request to you to be compassionate. To kindly remember those that do not have limitless funds. Please support the health of Theresa by supporting her caretakers as well. A fact you may not be aware of is Hospice is transitional care. Insurance does not provide daily caretakers, nor does it cover all the necessary medical costs. That is left up to the family. Please consider your own life's blessings and be a blessing to Theresa and her family.
