Hello, my name is Erica and it is with an extremely heavy heart that I am having to set up this gofundme account for my sister. Tragic suddenly struck my family the afternoon of April 18th, 2015. Our sweet little Zayden was just 18 months old when curiousity hit his little daredevil/houdini self and he climbed out an open window that led straight to the backyard pool.
Mind you, my sister lives in a manufactured home, and if you have ever been inside of one, you would know that some windows are as low as a foot or so from the ground on the inside and about 2-3 feet from the outside. The screen was on the window, but being your average, curious 18 month old, he somehow managed to pull just enough of it off the frame to fit through and find his way inside the fenced pool area. Just minutes later, my sister started running through the house yelling his name, looking for him when she noticed the screen on the window pulled in. Without even looking out the window, she immediately ran to the back door and to the pool where she found her sweet boy face down.
She pulled him out and started CPR immediately while frantically screaming for help. Her neighbor behind her just happened to be outside, heard her screams and called 911. Within minutes, 911, paramedics, firefighters and news stations were surrounding her house. Firefighters took over CPR and managed to get him breathing again, and worked on him the entire way to the hospital. Unfortunately, as soon as they arrived at Cardon Children's, little Zay had stopped breathing again. Doctors continued to work on him for 30 more minutes before they pronounced him dead at 3:51pm.
Our handsome Zayden completed my sister's family. My sister nicknamed him "Bullet," because he was tiny, yet so quick. His little feet just moved so fast, that we literally had to run after him just to catch up with him. His spunky little attitude was so unique, his smile so contagious and his eyes so bright. He could light up the darkest room and put the biggest smile on your face. He was the happiest little boy I've ever met. His older brothers and sisters just loved him so much, and his mom, she was just absolutely crazy about him.
As you can all imagine, none of them are taking this well at all. None of us are. He was just given to us Halloween of 2013 and we weren't prepared to say goodbye just 18 short months later. He is loved SO much and will be so incredibly missed beyond words. Now, here we are, having to start making arrangements to say our final goodbye's. My sister is a single monther of now, 4 children with no financial help from child support, or help in any way for that matter. So, I am here to ask for your help in giving my sister the financial help she will need to give my nephew the viewing/memorial/ goodbye he deserves.
Even if you can't help out financially, just sending prayers our way, as well as sharing our story will help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, the prayers already sent, and the continued support you have all been giving. Everything is appreciated more than any of you will ever know.
