Hey eveyone, this is Nathan...Amber's brother. I never have done this before and never thought I would ever. But times are tuff for all of us at the moment, If you like to help, my family and I would greatly appreciate it. Any little bit will help and we really dont expect to reach our goal since we know how these things work sometimes unfortunately.
Here's the story of what happened:
My sister, Amber... passed away on Aug. 17th 2015 . She was diagnosed with HIV after she went to college in San Diego a long time ago, for years she battled her addiction with alcoholism and drug use on top of this disease. She did take medication to help keep her white T cells at bay, but within the past year she obviously gave up the battle and stop taking the meds... it went full blown and there was no turning back. I've never had seen someone go through this before first hand, I've never seen the outcome of it in the end. All I can say, it is frightening to see someone go through it. Especially someone you know personally.
I never had a great relationship with her. We fought a lot growing up, there was that sister and brother hate that always dwindled through our lives. It never meant that we didn't truly care about each other, it just was what it was. I love her, I always did... it was definitely hard trying to be a brother to her though. She was the first born and of course I was the second, I'm sure a lot of you can relate to that with your siblings.
Im glad to have made my peace with her and she did the same with me when I went to visit her in the hospital. Im also glad she left us knowing that I loved her no matter what happened in the past. I hope her kids will remember the good times they shared with her and not the bad and I will try my best to see that they grow up to be good people and for me to be a good uncle to them.
So, again... remember that this disease is very powerful, and if you know someone going through it... be there for them. And please please please, what ever awareness you need to keep you safe from it, listen up and take it to heart. It's not a joke, it's real and it's scary. This is the second closest of my family blood line that has passed away in under a year.. it's been tough for me and the rest of my family to go through this.
With the donations we like to take care of the cremation costs, hospital bills and hopefully a bit of money to help my little sisters come out this way to be able to go to the service we are having. I dont expect her ex husband or my mother to handle of of this on their own... If there is enough raised for everything, the remaining amount will go to to her family members that contributed towards my fathers passing at the end of last year.
So, thank you all for taking the time to read this and understand our situation. Its greatly appreciated with or without the contributions.
