As some of you are aware, our mother, Jennifer Mixon, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. More specifically, metastatic mucinous appendiceal adenocarcinoma.
December 1st, 2022, she went to the ER due to nausea. While there, a CT scan confirmed the grim news of tumors in her ovaries. From there, she was transferred to Atruim Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Ga where they performed immediate surgery to remove what cancer they could. The surgery was intense, an incision from her chest all the way down her torso. They performed a full hysterectomy, removed half of her colon, her appendix, and a tumor in her stomach. It was determined the cancer started in her appendix and spread from there. There is still cancer remaining in portions of her stomach that require chemo + radiation. Next week she is scheduled for a PETSCAN and has to undergo a minor surgery for her chemo port. Chemo is scheduled to start within the next two weeks.
At this time, she does not have any medical insurance so all procedures, medicines and travel expenses are coming out of pocket. It is an unfortunate situation but we are so grateful our beautiful mother is still here with us and willing to fight for her life! This will be a journey but we have faith and believe in the power of prayer! So, first and foremost, we ask that you all please add Jennifer to your daily prayers! Pray for her healing, strength, faith, courage and peace of mind. We also ask, if you're able, to please help with the financial support of this journey. Growing up here we have seen this community come together and do amazing things! We are grateful to be a part of it and we are grateful for any contribution you are able to give for Jenn's Journey!
