Help Zeljka's Fight Against Cancer

On May 27, 2019 Zeljka received a medical diagnosis that turned her life upside down. After a double Mastectomy in 2013 and a Full Hysterectomy in 2017, the cancer still found its way onto her intestines leaving her with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis,in other words, late stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.
Our young strong vibrant friend, family member and community supporter is now fighting for her life. Zeljka is a fighter and proving to give it her all.
If there is any silver lining to this horrific reality it is Zeljka was accepted by the BC Cancer Society to be a part of a clinical trial. That decision was based on many factors but possibly one of the most important may be that Zeljka is the rare carrier of 2 tumour suppressing genes that are not working as they should…they do not recognize the cancer as an enemy but rather a friend allowing it to grow at an uncontrollable rate. Her body needs to learn how to fight the cancer rather than allow it to take up residence. To date she has had one surgery to remove as many of the cancerous tumours with the surgeon leaving all that are seeded throughout her abdomen all on vital areas and one session of Chemotherapy.
Depending on the outcome of the next 3 scheduled sessions of Chemo and the cocktail drugs that she will be taking, she may undergo a 2nd surgery followed by 3 more rounds of chemo. These next 4 months of treatment, the plethora of medical tests and procedures, along with all the doctor’s appointments will be pivotal.
The financial instability and financial burden this brings to Zeljka and family is enormous. The endless travels back and forth from Whistler to Vancouver, various medications, accommodation, gas costs, wage loss, etc. is beyond stressful. Our hope with this fund is to help alleviate such anxiety for her and give her some well-deserved peace of mind.
Zeljka is an incredibly passionate, caring, selfless and world-minded individual. She has a huge love for the wilderness, the ocean and the mountains with a unique talent to attract, photograph and communicate with animals. One of Zeljka’s dreams is to see Grizzly bears in the wild. Let’s see that we can get her feet back on the forest floor and fulfill this dream.
We all know Zeljka has a HUGE TRIBE, #zeljkastribe, supporting her on this next chapter of her life. We are asking everyone to please chip in whatever you can to this fund.
