My name is Len Loftin, and my wife is Janice. Many of you here in Western Kentucky may know or recognize us from Hillman Ferry Campground here at Land Between the Lakes.
A little over two years ago, Janice was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and underwent a horrific biopsy. We wanted the best doctors and help for her, so we decided on going to Nashville to Vanderbilt's cancer center.
Her first surgeries seemed to
go as planned. During the recovery process she developed a few complications that set back her recovery time table by several weeks. In an attempt to use her own tissue for the breast
replacement (deep-flap procedure)
the vein in the left breast was not sufficient to return the
blood to the body. Janice spent 7 days in the intensive care unit trying to save the breast. It was decided that the breast would be
removed once more, allowing her to regain some strength so she could procede at a later date.
After tissue expander and saline injections to stretch the skin. they have now been able to restart her reconstruction. If there are no more complications, this should be her last major Surgery. All future visits should be touch ups and nip tucks. Still the visits, travel and lodging continues and insurance doesn't cover any of that.
Janice has been rock solid in her positive outlook and has been a rock considering all she has been through
Travel to and from Nashville for surgeries and doctor's visits has taken a tremendous toll not only on us but on our savings. These costs are not covered by insurance and have depleted our financial assets. With more trips back and forth, in the near and foreseeable future, I am seeking help from our community. I have taken this on myself so that Janice can concentrate on her recovery and health, not having to worry about anything financial. I am hoping to raise some funds for the travel expenses, hotel fees, and medical expenses not covered by insurance. Our savings have been depleted, and now our credit cards are slowly being maxed out. Believe me when I say that any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance and your prayers.
Len
