Sewing Studio, storefront, networking
I'm having difficulties sewing from home with the ever-vigilant Malacoda protecting me from the fabric (seen below). I currently have seven commissions and two more possible commissions, but I need a separate workspace to be efficient. I'm also having trouble doing all of the cutting and pattern drawing on the ground and would benefit from a cutting/drawing surface.
I found the perfect studio that also doubles as a storefront. It even has a counter that would be perfect for cutting fabric and drawing patterns. The rent is low enough that I can afford it, but I need to get the first month's rent and deposit asap. It's the last unit left that fits my needs.
I want this to be more than a workspace and retail spot. I would like to offer space for artists to display/sell their work, without a commission fee, that would rotate throughout the year. Once a month, I intend to host a networking event for artists to share their work and tell their stories. With your help, the storefront can be so much more than a studio and clothing store; it can be something that gives back to the art community that many of us love.
I intend to get my business license once I'm operating at full capacity again. After I get that license, I intend to donate 10% of all sales to a charity of the buyer's choice. One of those charities will be AZ Burners Without Borders. I know I want the other options to be a veterans charity organization and an autism charity or institute. I am open to suggestions on these charities.
Donating to my campaign would enable me to work more efficiently, live more comfortably, reach a larger audience, and give back to my community. Also, I live with a lot of social anxiety and tend to self-isolate. This would be an opportunity to work through those issues in a comfortable space, enabling me to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
I would be forever grateful if you help me in this endeavor. Any amount that you can spare will be put to good use. From the bottom of my heart: thank you! I appreciate your willingness to help me build a better future for myself and others.
If you would like to help me by liking and sharing my Facebook page, that would be much appreciated as well! I currently sell furry hoods and onesies there but will be expanding as I have more space and freedom to work.
