Upward Movement Ministries (UMM) will undertake a major outreach project from July 17-August 5, 2018 to Indonesia.
Our deadline for this fundraising project is July 15, 2018. (Extended to July 24; see updates for more info!)
Much will happen during this trip, but we want to talk to you about a very exciting plan. We will endeavor to teach beginner and advanced sewing to sixty local ladies who are either single mums, widows or in desperate situations. At the end of the classes we will offer, to those who graduate, a certificate of accomplishment, a brand-new sewing machine and the trimmings necessary to start their own small business in order to gain some financial independence.
The cost per woman is $150 for each sewing machine (@60 for $9,000), plus our stretch goal of adding sewing supplies and startup money for each woman totaling another $100 (@60 for $6,000). With these tools and skills in hand, these women will be empowered to support themselves and their family.
We have successfully run similar sewing programs in Africa and India, and we are excited to partner with you on this new venture. For every $150 you donate, your name will be written on a sewing machine and, upon graduation, we'll send you a photograph of your sewing machine with the grateful student who benefited from your kindness.
