Hello Community!

Thank you for your interest in our page. We, Seward Park cheer appreciate your love and support. We need your help to get to Nationals in Orlando, Florida! We have MADE HISTORY as the FIRST ever team to qualify at our campus. Please consider making a donation to help fund our trip to compete in Nationals in February.

How you can help

By making a donation to our program, you can help fund the trip for our athletes to compete against teams from across the nation in Orlando, Florida. Here, they will continue the legacy of promoting positive school culture, spirit and leadership.  We are the second public high school in NYC to EVER qualify for Nationals. The is a monumental moment for our program. Without your love and support, many of our athletes will be unable to attend nationals due to the high cost.

Estimated Cost per athlete:

  • $300 Uniform & Travel Gear
  • $200 Flight
  • $400 Hotel & Food
  • $400 Competition & Park fee
  • Additional Costs include: team transportation, chaperones, insurance etc.
Total Cost: approximately $15,000

Any donation of any kind is greatly appreciated. We invite you to read below to learn more about us and consider making a donation to help our journey to Nationals 2022!

Who are we?

We are a team of dedicated athletes in NYC and one of the only high school cheer programs in Manhattan, NYC. We welcome a diverse group of individuals from the campus community. Our primary responsibility is to increase prosocial behavior and school culture by supporting the school's varsity basketball team in the fall, hosting school based events, participating in local competitions, and promoting positive school spirit.

Cheerleading is not recognized as a sport in NYC and as a result, does not receive any athletic school based designated funding. So we need your help in order to continue to serve our young athletes. By participating in our program, young people have an opportunity to develop their social emotional skills and leadership through non-traditional sports and movement. It is the goal of our program to become a part of the programming at Social Skills in Motion, a private therapy practice and social-emotional development program founded by our coach. At Social Skills in Motion, the primary focus is on social-emotional well-being through sports and movement based activities and therapy.

School Pride!

Meet some of our current athletes…

This year, most of us started our journey together for 8 weeks during the spring 2021 semester to reengage our young athletes after a year of distance learning and no cheer. Many of ours athletes joined us for the first time and have NEVER cheered before. We were joined by a few more athletes when school resumed in the Fall of 2021. The Seward Team is home to now 14 athletes who will be given the opportunity to represent our campus at Nationals.

Cheering at our first basketball game of the season!

Looking back - Spring 2021: After only 8 weeks of practice, we were able to perform for an amazing organization during NYC pride to honor sober LGBTQ men. Check out of performance! These athletes did an incredible job with only 8 weeks of practice.

A little History…

Our current athletes join a legacy of other cheerleaders that have come before them from their high school campus. They continue the legacy of supporting a positive school culture, spirit, pride and leadership. Our team has been home to more than 60+ athletes thus far and continue to inspire and motivate young people to be engaged in academics, school community, service and leadership. Now, our 2021-22 team is the first time in our teams history of receiving a qualifying BID to nationals and scoring the HIGHEST we've ever scored in a competition. We hope to continue to set records for our community!

About 3 years ago, our team brought the first ever mascot and pep rally to our campus community. With the support from UCA camp, our athletes are able to kick start their leadership and spirit leading with learning the essentials to continue bringing our community a Spirit Pep Rally!

We emphasize leadership and service on our team. In the past we’ve hosted community cheer clinics with local schools and community agencies to introduce the sport of cheer to young people. This is just one example of one community service events we’ve done as a team. At UCA Camp, our athletes are introduced to pinning it forward, where we acknowledge leaders and servers within the camp community. We bring this spirit back to our campus and local community.
