Severe Typhoid Fever - One in a Million
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Paola Mendía.
This is the case of my father Alejandro Mendía.
On December 5, 2021, he was admitted to the hospital due to high fevers and severe bleeding, he was diagnosed with typhoid fever - salmonella typhi (atypical case) and the E.coli bacteria, due to the severity the doctors proceeded to an emergency surgical intervention in which they removed more than 30 cm of the right descending colon and 10 cm of ileum intestine causing septic shock (a generalized infection that causes organ failure) that damaged his lungs, and led to intubation. He had several complications such as an 8-day coma at the Intensive Care Unit, 14 blood transfusions, pneumonia, atelectasis, among others.
After fighting for his life, he was released from the hospital on December 21. However, on January 2, 2022, he was admitted to the hospital again for an abdominal abscess. Due to his delicate condition and this complication, we face a possible surgery again.
This entire process has been very expensive and despite our financial efforts, we cannot fully cover all the medical and hospitalization expenses that has elevated up to $ 72,000.00.
So with heart and soul we ask for your financial support to save my dad's life.
We appreciate every donation from the bottom of our hearts.
