Seth Goodwin Funeral and Expenses

Donation protected
Seth Jacob Goodwin was a wonderful, loving, and intelligent young man. He was ambitious, polite and worldly. He was admired by his family and loved by friends across the globe. He lived life on his own terms; embracing his free spirit. He chose not to conform to society's beaten path but instead he followed his heart and danced to the music of his own bagpiper. He was passionate about his health and physical well-being. He was a master of the skate board but he loved to ride his motorcycle with an intensity some might not understand. His custom 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle was his pride and joy.

Seth was born at home in Ingleside, where he lived for the first 22 years of this life. He attended Gavin Elementary and Grant Community High School, graduating in 2009. He then enrolled in the College of Lake County while he worked and saved so he could continue his education at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In preparation for his enrollment in University in England, he studies multiple languages. He was truly gifted with language, studying the medieval languages including Norse, Roman/Greek and Egyptian history and mythology. He was working on his bachelor’s degree with plans to continue on a master’s degree. He had many interests and could converse on just about any topic.

Seth went missing in the early hours of Monday, March 28, 2016. He was traveling to his girlfriend’s house, but never arrived. Although he was reported missing on Tuesday, and the local police and his family searched for him, his body was not discovered until April 3, 2016. Seth and his motorcycle left the road and his body was well concealed. While the family organized a large group of volunteers and were actively searching the area where he may have been driving, he was actually discovered by a bicyclist, who then notified the Lake County Sheriff.

Seth’s passing is a devastating tragedy and at the age of 24, neither Seth nor his family had planned or prepared for his death. Seth’s family is struggling to deal with this unexpected event, as well as the financial obligations that are inevitable when burying a loved one. The Goodwin family would appreciate any donation to assist them with giving Seth the dignified farewell that he deserves.
