On Monday, February 23, 2020 Seth Laken was admitted to the hospital for complications from acute liver failure. He was sedated and put on a respirator to help address high ammonia levels. While the doctors were able to lower the ammonia levels and stop sedation, Seth remains in a coma.
Seth has been diagnosed with Hepatic Encephalopathy . While he is showing very slight improvement, his prognosis is unknown. He will be transferred to a VA hospital as soon as possible.
In his sister Amy's words, "If you've ever met my brother there's a good chance that you are still friends. He's the kind of guy that's liked by everyone and knows how to please a crowd. Maybe it is his sense of humor, or the way he can whip up a feast with ingredients that you didn't even know you had. He was the soldier who would BBQ goats in the middle of a desert war zone to cheer up the troops and give them a taste of home. He was larger than life."
Many people have expressed a desire to help the family and we are so grateful. Lori and the kids have a long road ahead of them, and the medical bills are mounting.
Your support will help Lori to keep the family secure financially during this uncertain time.
On behalf of Seth, Lori, Ethan, Olivia and Emmy, THANK YOU.
