Mercy & Hope For Peter Tuthill
If you grew up in Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, you probably know Peter Tuthill.
You may know that Peter is an incredibly talented musician. I remember crossing paths with him after school, to my delight, at coffee shops or the beach parks, and being thrilled by Peter's songs and incredible guitar licks, which he always shared freely and with joy!
Peter has been struggling with addiction for many years now. It has torn apart his life and beat him down to the point of wanting to just give up hope that he will ever break free. The darkness of despair and the chains that he cannot break by his own strength are holding him captive in a prison of pain, both physical and mental.
Recently his son Lindsey reached out on social media crying out for help for his dad. Peter had voluntarily checked himself into a detox program and was about to be released after a week there.
Lindsey's request and prayer was that his dad wouldn't just end up back on the street and falling back into substance abuse. God answered that prayer by opening the door for Peter to get into a Clean & Sober house! We got him off of the street where he was sleeping; into a home with warm showers and clean sheets. We are so thankful for that!
However, Peter has been down that road before and we are desperate to give him a chance that he has never had to become completely new; with a new hope in a new life. An opportunity to gain back the things that addiction has stolen from him.
There is a program on the island of Kaua'i called U-Turn for Christ that takes people off-grid for a minimum of 8 months and surrounds them with counseling, a healthy and beautiful atmosphere, a place within a community where he can work and learn to serve others, life skills and responsibility training, and time to seek healing.
This would detach Peter from temptation for longer than he has ever experienced, away from the networks of people and patterns that call him back to a life he is trying to break free from. He will have a healthy and clean environment and be surrounded by love.
Please come along side us to give him this chance to break free!!
The funds will be used to pay for 8 months in the rehabilitation program, some supplies he is required to gather, and a plane ticket to Kaua'i. Whatever funds are left over will be held until he makes it through the program and then we will apply them to getting Peter into his own place and back on his own feet.
