My family immigrated to the United States back in 1981 from the west side of the Ukraine Republic, city Chernivtsi. Back then, it was still part of the USSR. We moved from a small little Ukrainian town to the middle of Los Angeles, CA. I was a 13-year old kid at that time. Later in my life, I met my wife Tatyana in California when she came and visited the United States from the same city in Ukraine. We have been married for 23 years now and have two sons, Dar Jr. and Erik. Currently in Ukraine I have long-distance cousins, but my wife Tatyana has a sister and two brothers with their families in the same city, Chernivtsi, which is west Ukraine, next to Moldova and Romania borders. They are currently safe. We talk to them daily, thank God. The situation in Ukraine as you all know is very difficult. Many have been fleeing west as you can see from the picture at the Kyiv train station. My home town Chernivtsi became a refuge town for many as they are trying to figure out their next step to take. My wife’s sister Ludmila, and both of her brothers Sasha and Vladimir take an active role in their church and homes to help refugees and to show them Christ’s love. Their church building became a place of physical and spiritual rest for many. Along with providing food, many people have brought extra clothes to church for the refugees to take. Not only do they provide physical help, but Ludmila also takes the opportunity to share Bible stories with the many children. The Sunday school classroom and other church rooms get converted to sleeping rooms for the night for 200+ people. Please keep Ukraine in your prayers that God will bring peace to this land. You can also practically help them by giving financially. Thank you and may God richly reward you.
