On March 4th, we lost the most amazing, kind, and hilarious man. Our father, Ricky Matlock was diagnosed with cancer in December, 2020. His condition deteriorated rapidly right before our eyes, as his children and loved ones we did everything we could to help him fight but it was simply too late.
I was in awe of my father and his continuous random acts of kindness. He would pay for military personnel and veterans meals anonymously at restaurants, pay for someones groceries ahead or behind him, made sure he got cash back at the register so he could give the person bagging his groceries a tip.
His kindness and generosity was limitless and for no gain other than to spread kindness.
A day I will never forget happened a few years back. He and I were at target shopping, one of the people stocking asked him where he got his red beanie because he needed a red one in order to wear it during his shift. My Dad took the hat off his head, handed it to him and said "Merry Christmas".
At this difficult time, as his children and sisters, we are doing everything we can to fulfill the simple wishes he had but to give the memorial service fit for such a selfless and loving person. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
The Matlock Family.
