Service Puppy for Brooklyn's Seizures and POTS Syndrome
Donation protected
My name is Tosha Beard, and I am the mamma of 4 children. Currently, my daughter Brooklyn, who is 14, is experiencing and dealing with seizures. They started out small and not really anything to be too concerned about. We began her on seizure medicine and started seeing a cardiologist and a neurologist in Champaign, Illinois. She was diagnosed with POTS syndrome after a couple of years of dealing with many different odd symptoms and ongoing tests, doctor's visits, and hospital stays, just to always end up back at the beginning. She is scheduled for a 5-day at-home sleep study on June 24th, which happens to be 2 days after her 15th birthday, for an abnormal EEG.
As of last night, February 28th, 2025, she is now having cluster seizures, lasting 40 seconds to 1 minute long. We are now up to 8 in the last 8 days. She is also no longer remembering the entire seizure; she can only tell it's coming on.
We have decided to help put our minds at ease by going ahead and starting to look for that service puppy that I believe is essential in this journey as we learn to manage it the best way we know how. This is where I believe God is showing me the first step needs to be. The next step is looking for that puppy so we can begin to train it. My girl wants to be a normal teenager, and with uncontrolled epilepsy now with some other unknowns at this point as well.
Would you please pray about this, and if you feel led at this time, you don't even know how much we would appreciate any and all the support we can get. God Bless.
