Service Dog Training for Jason Epps
Exciting News!! I've been approved and matched with a service dog from New Horizons Service Dogs in Central Florida. Now I just need some help paying for lodging for the 2 week training program. Since I am going to Dallas Theological Seminary, I will need to travel down to Florida and stay in a hotel for the 2 week training period. That's hotel, gas, food and chew toys.
The dog is free to me, but New Horizons asks that a donation be made so that another dog can be trained and given away and I think that is a great way to pay it forward for someone else to get a service dog.
Would you please help donate any amount to help with these expenses?
There has already been so much love and interest about me getting a service dog. Here are the top questions I get asked:
What kind of dog will it be?
Not sure, but most are Golden Retrievers
What is the dog's name?
The puppies are bred by New Horizons Service Dogs in Central Florida and then raised in a home by a puppy-raiser for 2 years. They are given a name when they go to the puppy-raiser.
What will the dog do for you?
Lots of things! Mostly pick up things off the floor or counter that I can't reach, open doors, turn on lights, give money to a cashier. I'm hoping the dog can pull a wagon with my packages from the post office. Most of all - a chick magnet (just kidding, my mom put that in there).
Do you have a picture of your dog?
Not yet, but I'm going to post pictures and videos of my journey of getting a service dog on Facebook. Be sure to follow my progress here starting on February 25, 2019: https://www.facebook.com/jason.epps.372
