Service Dog Training for Derrick Cox, Disabled Vet

Donation protected
My son, Sgt. Derrick Cox, suffers from PTSD, back injuries, TBI, and several other issues from his time in Iraq during his service in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY; and part of the 101st Airborne.

He recently purchased a rescue dog. Thor is well suited for training as his service dog, but the cost is beyond what he can afford. He has a wife and 3 beautiful children, one with a disability, which creates even more challenges for Derrick and his family.

Thor acting as Derrick’s service dog would be extremely beneficial in providing love,  companionship, a sense of security, and helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Thor would also help by providing interruption tasks - such as being trained to interrupt nightmares, flashbacks, disassociation, and panic attacks.

Derrick is medically retired from the military, volunteers his time every week at the Veterans Facility in Grand Rapids and is a member of the not for profit organization 92 for 22; which raises money to help with veteran suicide prevention and awareness.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this cause. It means more than you know, for me and my son.

Blessings,

Mother of a soldier
