Service Dog Training for Disabled Vets/Kids
Tax deductible
MOBILITY SERVICE DOGS' (MSD) MISSION is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity that will improve the quality of life for children and veterans with mobility disabilities--giving them greater security, independence and self-esteem--by individually training a service dog with task-specific skills, obedience to commands, and the ability to help them negotiate challenges of public access.
Unlike many other service dog charities, ALL OF OUR DOGS WILL BE GIVEN TO DISABLED INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT COST.
This is why we are reaching out to you. It costs about $28,000 to purchase a puppy (from AKC recognized Breeders of Merit), covering their veterinary costs, food, partner evaluation, early training - then the intensive professional training (with the service dog and service dog with partner required to teach dogs tasks such as:
* Opening and closing - doors, windows, cabinets
* Depositing - trash into wastebasket, mail on counter
* Locating and retrieving - telephone, medicine, keys, etc.
* Turning on/off - light switches and other electrical devices
* Help remove shoes, drag laundry basket with strap
* Unloading & Removing - clothes in dryer; DVD from player
* Bracing with and without harness - transfer from wheelchair to bed, bath car
* Pressing 9-1-1 speed dial button in an emergency
* Negotiating public access - public transportation, stores, restaurants, travel to work or school, and any place or building where the general public is permitted.
Dr. Richard Famularo, MSD's Executive Director, brings to the task a lifelong experience with PTSD treatment and a passion for helping fulfill our nation's responsibility to care for wounded veterans. A successful service dog placement requires careful evaluation of the psychological and social support setting of the potential dog recipient. MSD provides ongoing support and consultation after placement.
Won't you help us with a tax deductible donation of $10, $25, $50, $100 - or any amount. Any gift by you is greatly appreciated.
For more information, please go to our website https://www.mobilityservicedogs.org and feel free to contact Dr. Famularo with any questions you might have.
Thank you for supporting this important work.
