Tiago is one of the sweetest 10 year-old kids you could meet and has been fighting epilepsy since he was 3 years old. Presently, he has tonic seizures at night, which puts him at an elevated risk for Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). He LOVES dogs and we want to get him a service dog to help keep him safe at night and manage his seizures. The service dog would also help him regulate when he gets overstimulated and provide deep pressure therapy. The cost of a service dog is enormous, and we were hoping our village could help us get him a dog that would change his life. Tiago is currently taking 3 anti-seizure medications and has a Vagal Nerve Stimulator to help manage his seizures, but his epileptologist at UCSF feels Tiago will deal with seizures his entire lifetime. Tiago’s quality of life is incredibly important to us, and we feel a service dog would enhance his life in so many ways.
