Service Dog for Raelinn: A Path to Independence
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Raelinn.
I am trying to raise funds to specifically go towards getting a prospective service dog, a puppy to be professionally trained with the purpose of doing psychiatric-based service tasks.
I have been considered disabled since I was aged 12, currently 22, for numerous psychiatric conditions. I struggle with the following, all diagnosed by professional clinicians: agoraphobia, bipolar 1, PTSD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety, EDNOS, ADHD, and autism.
The main tasks my service dog will be trained to do are grounding in the event of panic attacks via tactile stimulation and DPT, as well as alerting to certain auditory cues as I experience auditory hallucinations.
Due to my numerous disabilities, I am unable to work currently. My goal in life is to get off of SSI/SSDI and be able to become a productive member of society. I believe a service dog will help me attain this goal, as panic attacks and hallucinations are the primary reasons for my inability to work.
Having a service dog will allow me to not only gain personal independence but hopefully financial independence as well, I will no longer have to rely on the support of others and can instead begin giving back to the community that has so graciously helped me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and know that you matter and are loved.
