Service Dog for Olivia
Our daughter, Olivia, (19) was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease (what is lyme?) in December 2019 after years of strange intensifying symptoms: chronic fatigue, brain fog, vision issues, vertigo, fibromyalgia, neuropathy, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, 35 lb weight loss, severe panic attacks, depression, chest pain, chest tightness, air hunger, abdominal pain, foot pain, “cat scratch” stretch marks, central nervous system inflammation, mini seizures, and multiple hospital ER visits.
The last year has been a constant battle with hundreds of symptoms, exhausting tests, misdiagnoses, tons of doctors, protocols, supplements - all not paid by insurance, and thousands and thousands of dollars later, we have a battle that is still predicted to last 3-5+ years at best.
Small deteriorations have included fatigue bad enough that she is needing a chair to even shower... to larger problems like, considering a wheelchair, and now the realization that a service dog might be the best solution for her long term care.
A service dog is trained to recognize panic attacks and seizures, regulate breathing, aid insomnia, help her get back to sleep from nightmares, alert others in emergencies and more. However the cost involved with such a highly trained animal is upwards of $38,000. 
Crazy expensive costs for the animal’s training, plus ongoing medical care, is proving to be cost prohibitive for us. We are trying to raise as much as we can to help us find a service dog so that Olivia can have her life back - and do simple things like, be able to go to school, walk without falling, board a plane, or even go to a store - things which she cannot do on her own at this point.
Olivia’s dream is that she will be able to heal from this horrific illness, and utilize her service dog and her extensive firsthand experience, to help others battling chronic illnesses, to bring hope and comfort.
