Amaya has always shown incredible strength, even in the face of overwhelming challenges. Last year, she was hit by a car and spent months recovering. Just as she was starting to heal, she was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. This week, while at school, she suffered three grand mal seizures back to back and had to be hospitalized. Watching her go through so much at such a young age has been heartbreaking for our family.
A service dog would be life-changing for her. These specially trained dogs can sense when a seizure is coming and alert her so she can get to a safe place, sit or lie down, and avoid injury. If she is sleeping, the dog will alert her mother so she can give emergency medication right away. This extra layer of safety would give our family peace of mind, especially during the night when seizures are unpredictable.
We are reaching out to friends, family, and kind strangers for help in getting her the service dog she needs. Your support, love, and prayers mean everything to us. My granddaughter is a true warrior, but she needs help to get her forever companion. Thank you for being part of her journey and for any support you can give.
