My Uncle John is 55 years old and suffers from stiff person syndrome, end-stage emphysema/COPD, along with a partially paralyzed elevated diaphragm that exacerbates his respiratory distress, CVID and late-onset type 1 diabetes.

He currently lives in Long Island New York and has a wife, 2 children who he is very proud of, and an 8-year-old grandson with another grandchild on the way.

We are setting up this Gofundme to provide my Uncle with a service support dog and to help with the training and upkeep that it entails. Due to the severe chronic pain and respiratory ailments of his terminal illness, he has difficulty getting around and feels isolated and lonely during the days his wife is working to keep them afloat. A companion dog would provide emotional and mental health support but the training and upkeep are out of their financial ability.

My Uncle has always been a hard worker and would always be the first to lend a helping hand to someone in need, which makes his situation so hard for him to accept. He continues to fight every day against a body that is failing him.
